Day Two

Today has started well, and now the adoption is official. Her adoption date is Dec, 11th 2007 (Happy birthday Marilee). She took a bath with Bibi, has allowed me to comb her hair, but insists on wearing the clothing she came to us in. since this is the only thing she has of "hers", we will go with this for now. She wants no part of the new shoes either.

We took her to the adoption and we met the director again. The interactions between Shu Ping and this man are warm and genuine. I can tell he is really a great guy who loves these kids. When she sees him, she goes running into his arms. It is quite the contrast from Bibi's director.

We have made arrangements to come to Shu Ping's orphanage on Thursday. There is a child there under his direction, who has CP. She lives in foster care and holds a special place in the hearts of a family in America. He has made arrangements for Wen Qian's foster family to arrive with her so I can show them some therapeutic technique to break up her tone and encourage more normalized postures during her play and dressing skills.

Steve and I went to the Walmart here to purchase a bunch of learning toys for Qiu He and her friends (these are the girls left in Shu Ping's dorm). I am really looking forward to playing with these children and meeting Shu Ping's nannies. It is a 4 hours drive each way so only Shu Ping and I will make this journey. Bibi and Daddy can have fun in the hotel while we are gone.
